Mit Introduce #18 setzt die Schneiderei eine Serie fort, die die Einflüsse auf und Ausgangspunkte für künstlerisches Arbeiten zum Thema hat. Mit den Präsentationen von Sasha Auerbakh und Ivana Smiljanić möchten wir ein formales Setting schaffen in dem sich zwei Künstlerinnen, die sich bisher nicht kannten, obwohl sie in derselben Stadt leben, mit ihren Arbeiten gegenseitig vorstellen.

With Introduce #18 the Schneiderei continues the series of events that are dealing with influences and starting points of artistic production. The presentations of Sasha Auerbakh and Ivana Smiljanić take place within a formal setting that introduces two artists presenting their works to each other. Both are living in the same city not knowing each other or each other´s work.

Sasha Auerbakh was born in 1985. She lives and works in Moscow and Vienna. Graduated Moscow Rodchenko Art School of Photography and Multimedia, currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Heimo Zobernig´s class. Her works are in the collections of Moscow Museum of Modern Art and Moscow House of Photography. Sasha is represented by :BARIL gallery, Romania.

Ivana Smiljanić is a visual artist, performer and dancer born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1980. She graduated in 2005 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where she received her Magister degree in 2009. She completed Women’s Studies at the Belgrade Women’s Studies Center in 2013 and attended the Queer Studies course at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory in Belgrade in 2014. She was awarded the Henkel Art Award for Serbia in 2011 and the artist residency in ISCP, New York as the winner of “Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos” Award (Young Visual Artist Awards network) in 2009. Her works are part of the Telenor Collection. She moved to Vienna earlier this year.
